Butter Buns

Today, I am sharing a recipe that is not meant for health, but more for the heart and soul: buttery buns. This recipe has been used in my family for years and anyone who tries them, are addicted to them. The ingredients are:

  • 200ml of milk
  • 15g of yeast
  • 3 tbsp of sugar
  • 550 g of flour
  • 2 eggs and 1 egg yolk
  • 80g of butter
  • 1/4 tsp of salt

Start by combining the milk, yeast, and sugar in a bowl and leave it to sit for 10min in a warm place. This will allow the mixture to start rising. Next, add the flour, eggs, and salt into the same bowl. Mix this thoroughly and then add your butter. The dough should be soft and not sticky. Let the dough sit in the bowl for 1hr and 30min. Then, take the dough and form small pieces and place them on a pan that has been prepared with parchment paper and butter. Let them sit again for 30 min. Meanwhile preheat your oven to 375F. Once the buns have risen, take a single egg white and distribute a small amount of it on the top of each bun. This is an optional step however, it will ensure the buns have a beautiful finish on top. You can also sprinkle a bit of sugar on top. Lastly, place the buns into the oven for 25 min. Hopefully, you will enjoy this recipe. It will leave your house smelling amazing.
